Last week, our driver side window got broken out in daylight hours at the original Carrabba's Italian Grill at 3115 Kirby Street, Houston, Texas while the restaurant's security team were on their 3-hour daily break. We have a images of a few of the stolen items. If you are reading this Houston thieves, you have $10,000+ worth of stolen personal possessions.
Dark Brown/Chocolate Banana Leather Jacket
14 Kt. Gold Bangles with diamonds (unique)
Aluminum Apple Wireless keyword
Apple Powerbook G4 12.1 inch - Aluminum casing/slightly raised keyboard
(the graduation character on left with screenplay brass fasteners and the SD converter on the right side are also part of the theft)
More images will be added once we can find copies. Both digital cameras and Sony DVD cam were stolen as well. Check the 5 page list of items that got stolen. We have an accurate list since we traveled the country, driving 6,500 miles in the process. We always took all our personal belongings in the hotel.
Update: Stopping at the original Carrabba's for 1 hour in daylight hour was plenty of time for robbers to break out the window while being filmed on surveillance footage that we never heard any news about - whether the restaurant and or police decided to review the film. Almost 3 months after this car robbery, the Houston police have never follow-up on the crime. The common excuse we hear is that they have violent crimes to investigate.
Is this the reason that four bank robberies occurred in daylight hours 5 days later? According to the Houston ABC local news, four different banks got robbed. One bank is located down the street from a Houston police station. The robber also fired off a shot in the air, which the online news site noted was an accidental shot. Maybe the bank robber decided to fire a warning shot to inform the bank workers and customers they were serious.
It took us an hour to experience a car robbery. We didn't stop anywhere beforehand. The so-called top-notch security snoozed on their 3-hour break while criminals wiped our vehicle clean. How can a loud broken window with glass scattered throughout the car not attract attention? What kind a poor surveillance does this restaurant implement? They sweep this crime under the rug to avoid financial responsibility.
Future travelers can expect this poor treatment in Houston, Texas. The Houston police and Carrabba's Italian Grill lack empathy. They don't care about a crime on their property. This experience is the main reason my life is in shambles. One bad stop at an unsafe location in an exclusive area is the worst disaster ever.
I am told that I am part of a common American crime rate statistic. Just for the record, I lived in Southern California and San Jose for a combined 13 years. I worked in restaurants for 8 years. Not once have I ever seen another patron and or worker experience this disaster in broad daylight. It makes it acceptable to defer responsibility? I've driven through the most high crime cities in day and night hours.
It is an excuse to accuse the criminals and blame the crime rate on this robbery experience. However you perceive this case, $10,000+ worth of personal possessions, U.S. passport, Social Security Card, tax documents for three people, and thousands in intellectual property worth nearly 6-figures in an optioned market are lost forever. 3,500 original quotes that took 3 years to write are probably in a Houston landfill. In my opinion, Houston, Texas is a landfill.
According to the ABC news site that reported the four bank robberies, they stated that crime is up 50 percent than the previous year. There, crime will double in 2012. Does that make you want to visit Houston, Texas? Think twice before you take that Houston trip. If you want to visit Texas, go to San Anotonio. We had better security at the Comfort Inn & Suites in downtown San Antonio. It doesn't take rocket science to provide ample security.
Carrabba's insurance company Town & Country claim Carrabba's is providing security as a free service, indicating we as customers are not entitled to safety. They also say everyone gets robbed on every corner in America. The Houston police, Carrabba's and Town and Country are reading from the same script. Same excuse, but no accountability for this crime. In my opinion, ignoring a first degree grand theft (greater than $10,000 loss and planned ahead of time) is just as bad as committing the crime. Karma never forgets those who are treated unfairly.
Catching criminals involved in grand theft crimes could reduce violent crimes. Why not take fingerprints, review surveillance footage, ignore third party evidence, and avoid contacting pawn shops? If these criminals are brave enough to vandalize property and steal valuable personal possessions, they are dangerous and could be classified as violent criminals.
VIsit the itemized list that will need to be revised again below. The list does not include additional items and intellectual property, sensitive documents, and unaccounted items which may take time due to the amount of the loss. The only thing the robbers left behind is my Success magazine and my Ray-ban glasses. Thanks for leaving me a jacket to wear while rain and fog smothered me for 1,200 miles. Criminals ruin lives. To this day, I have been unable to land a job. I have no proof of my portfolio. Houston is a disaster zone.
Itemized list of stolen items on April 16, 2012 at the original Carrabba's Italian Grill new parking structure adjacent to their restaurant. They converted their traditional parking to valet. Those who elect to not use valet are forced to park in their privately parking structure with so-called state-of-the-art surveillance and good security that is not hired on for 3 hours in the afternoon - according to their security officer who took the report and their general manager that operates the restaurant.
Take extra precautions in this parking structure because these criminals are definitely extremely dangerous to take a major risk and to steal valuable possessions in broad daylight. The next time the crime could be a violent encounter and or even worse. Stay safe.
